So Old It’s New

(B&W photo of Karlo Berkovich)This is Bald Boy. I host a classic rock album cuts show — So Old It’s New — on 102.7 Sound FM Radio. The show’s premise: Old bands, old tracks, old bands, their new tracks if they’re still releasing music. Mostly 1960s and 70s stuff, the era in which I grew up. But I’ll go with 80s, 90s, 2000s as well – Guns ‘N Roses, The Cult, Wolfmother, REM, you name it.  Prog and (70s) punk, too. Or whatever else strikes my fancy.

And I’ll play the occasional single you likely have not heard on commercial rock radio in many a moon, which is what prompted this show – my frustration with commercial rock radio not going beyond the same repetitive fare from the Stones, Zep, Purple and the like.

So with me, you’ll get the Stones’ Fingerprint File, not Start Me Up. You’ll get Zep’s Achilles Last Stand, not Stairway To Heaven.  I publish all my set lists here and also on Facebook (search for Bald Boy) and Twitter (Karlo Berkovich), including song clips.

So Old It’s New currently airs on CKMS-FM on Mondays from 8:00pm to 10:00pm.

So Old It’s New #2

On Saturdays from 8:00am to 10:00am Bald Boy plays the music that didn’t fit in the Monday timeslot! Full album plays, metal and hard rock, or going full bore with a reggae show, or a punk rock/new wave show…

AW@L Radio: Challenging the “Unproductive Fictions” of #Canada150

Download Audio::

tags:

This episode of AW@L Radio (recorded June 30, 2017), opens with a quick rant about Trudeau’s massive increases to canada’s military budget, and a brief chat about local ripening fruits.

For the remainder of the show, we are joined by Dr. Stephen Svenson for a discussion around #canada150 and the lingering “unproductive fictions” that deal with the establishment of this settler colonial state and which lay the foundation of racist canadian nationalism. Throughout the discussion we swing back to the question of “what are we celebrating?” when people choose to celebrate canada.

“canada’s creation story, as it were, is genocidal maniacs trying to wipe the indigenous people off the map.” – @DocSvenson

Receipts & Show Fees

Hi programmers,
I just put a whole bunch of show receipts beside the drop box. Sorry that they are just in a pile! There should be all the receipts until mid June. If your receipt is missing and you need it let me know and I can send you a photo of the receipt. There are a few that aren't there yet because I had to go buy a new receipt book.
Show Fees!!
I have contacted all shows are owe show fees! Please get caught up! The Free Airtime slots are for shows who do not need to be contacted about fees….That is the incentive for the free airtime slot! In addition policy for owing more than two months of show fees is to have your spot changed to a green slot on the schedule meaning that it is available to be bumped. Try to get these show fees in ASAP. We will be discussing and changing shows towards the end of this month!
BECAUSE….it is about AGM time! It is important to have your show fees in order so that you can vote to change things with the station and to be eligible in case you want to join the board of directors!
This year we have a lot of spots on the Board of Directors opening! If you wanna help out to get this station going please think about running for a board position! If you have questions about what it entails then please send me an email!
Lastly keep up the great programming…I haven't had a chance to listen too much in July but in June I had it on in my house constantly and it was one awesome show after another. I think that the Golden MP3 awards will be difficult this year!
Cheers,

Show descriptions on radiowaterloo.ca

Happy Canada Day,

The show bios are looking great on the website: http://radiowaterloo.ca/schedule/pressure-drop-about/

Some of the bios were missing a few things, so I fixed them up, but I think this is due to most people not being properly trained on how to use the website. I created a How To video for this to help out. Please take a look at this 4 minute video about how to create a Show Bio. One of the things the video shows is how to add a Featured Image to a post. This should always be done for any blog post.

Hello,

For our website, we would like to have a description of every show with a logo or photo to go along with it. I made some changes to the website that should make this more organised than what we have tried in the past. All of the descriptions will show up on the Shows page. Here's what I need each show to do.
  1. Log into http://radiowaterloo.ca/wp-admin If you do not have a login, please let me know.
  2. Create a new post.
  3. Set the title as your show name.
  4. Type in a description of your show. Include the time it airs and any online links you have (your website, facebook, twitter, etc).
  5. Set the category to your show.
  6. Add tags. Include the tag "about" as a minimum. You can also add any genres or other tags that describe your show.
  7. Add a featured image. This should be at least 1050 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall.
  8. Publish your post.
After this is done, you can go back and make changes to your show description at any time.
Let techcom@soundfm.ca know if you need any help with this. It should only take 10 minutes and will help us with advertising sales and general exposure of your show. Please try to get yours done in one week.
Thanks,
Nat

Rebel Time Radio

Rebel Time Radio is a punk rock show with a (very!) political flavor. We play a wide variety of punk, hardcore, ska and oi while having a laugh at politicians and rich people. We’re anti-fascist, against sexism, want to wipe out homophobia and transphobia, and generally can’t stand when powerful people take advantage of others. In sum, these are rebel tunes for rebel times!

Tune in to fill your earholes with joy with our live shows, or catch our somewhat more polished podcasts, which go up pretty regularly on the Radio Waterloo website. You can also subscribe to our show on iTunes or find us on other podcatchers. Why not eh!?

Check out the Official Website of Rebel Time Records and maybe go give us a like on Facebook to stay up to date with all things to do with our high quality international music empire. You can listen to (and even purchase) amazing Rebel Time releases at our Bandcamp page. Request tunes, tell us about shows and your band, or send spam messages to rebeltimeradio@gmail.com. Enjoy the show!

Rebel Time Radio airs from the archives Saturdays from Midnight to 1:00am.
