All shows from the start of Sunday 21 June 2026 to the end of Tuesday 23 June 2026 are required to submit SOCAN program logs sheets.
Log sheets are due by Sunday 28 June 2026!
Programs with overdue log files will be suspended!

Download the spreadsheet for your show, fill in the blanks, and then mail it as an attachment to logging@radiowaterloo.ca
There are no shows exempt from following logging procedures. Every programmer must do their part in order for Radio Waterloo to be in compliance with logging requirements.
Programmers are responsible for the entire timeslot on the schedule, including the station break immediately following their show. The station break immediately following your show must be included in your program logs (from the 58 minute mark to 60 minute mark, or 29 minutes to 30 minutes for half-hour shows). LibreTime will schedule these one hour before the station break airs, you can see what was played by checking the dashboard in LibreTime, or the calendar in LibreTime, or the Track List History at https://web.radiowaterloo.ca/ckmstracklist.php. Even if you aren’t doing a show and LibreTime has scheduled an Autoplay Playlist in your timeslot, you’re still responsible for logging the content that airs during your assigned timeslot. This includes #Replay timeslots.
If you’re already creating playlists for your show then you can copy the info from your playlist into the SOCAN log. (And if you’re already creating playlists for your show then you should post them on https://radiowaterloo.ca/ so your listeners can read about the music they’ve been listening to!)
If you use LibreTime to schedule tracks then you can use Track List History to view log files and download .csv files, then copy’n’paste them into the log spreadsheet. You’ll still need to complete the Host Name, Show Name, and Foreground/Background/Theme fields yourself. If you do a live show from the Radio Waterloo studio or Live-To-Air from your own studio, or if you upload a Pre-Recorded Show then you’ll need to complete the entire log spreadsheet yourself.
Foreground / Background / Theme
If the music that is being played is used as the theme of your show (ie. you play it every week to introduce your show or at the end of your show) then put a “T” in that column, and indicate how long that theme was played.
If someone is speaking over music, ie. using the music as background to their voice, then put a “B” in that column, and indicate how much time that music was used as the background. “Top 40 DJs” will give the introduction to a song while the song is playing, and finish speaking just as the vocals in the song start (called “hitting the post”). You would put a “B” in that column, and indicate how much of the music was used as background while you were introducing it.
“F” for Foreground is everything else: musical tracks that are played entirely or partially, with no voiceovers, and not used as a regular intro or extro for your show.
As mentioned in the NCRA Regulatory Survival Guide, logging is important and is essential in being in compliance with the rules and laws. The NRCA Regulatory Survivial Guide is full of excellent info.
Your logs may be required at any time. Best practice is to keep up to complete a program log for every show you do. To keep up logging you can download a blank SOCAN Log Sheet Template spreadsheet.
Once you have completed the log sheet send it to logging@radiowaterloo.ca.
Please include the complete show name, your full name (not your DJ name) and the date as part of the filename, for example:
