Grand River Indy Media School is hosting another afternoon of free workshops as part of the Daily GRRR! news project which is supported by WPIRG, LSPIRG, and the Community Radio Fund of Canada.

What: Grand River Independent MediA School .

When: Saturday March 30th from 13:00-17:30

Where: University of Waterloo MC 2017 (math and computers)

Cost: FREE! (though donations are accepted to help fund ongoing GRMC initiatives)

Workshop Details:

1 – 13:00-15:00 – Why are we not getting Media?

This workshop will help activists and indy journalists understand
how the mainstream media works, and how to use it as at tool in
your campaigns for social, economic and ecological change. We will
cover the basics of how to write compelling press releases, give
great interviews, and develop frames and messages that are effective
and in line with your goals.

2 – 15:30-17:30 – Media for Change
Learn how to develop a media strategy for a long term social change
initiative. The training will also cover framing, story-based
narrative analysis, understanding the media story cycle, and building
relationships with reporters.This workshop explores how to do
effective online campaigning & maximize social media strategies in
your projects and campaigns.
