Welcome to the 4th edition of the show. This week I will get right into the jazz music I’ve been enjoying. There is a wide variety of sounds in the mix, including modern blends of jazz and hip hop, Like from Astrocolor’s Stargazing – AstroJazz, Vol. 2 album from 2024, Brahja’s self-titled released in 2019, and SGJAZZ’s self-titled from 2019.
I also just got back from the Montreal Jazz Festival, so I’m playing songs from Kamasi Washington and Kokoroko, which were two great shows that I saw. I am also including Badbadnotgood with a Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time medley, which I think is apt since the remake of the game was recently announced.
Tracks played:
Joe Henderson – Without A Song
Mike Longo – Ocean of his might
Duval Timothy – Ghostnotes (Feat Bernard Purdie)
Brahja – Keepers
Astrocolor – Time Internal
Kamasi Washington – Final Thought
Kokoroko – Just Can’t Wait
SGJAZZ, Dr. Dundiff – Like Glue
Chet Baker – What’ll I Do
Badbadnotgood – Title Theme / Saria’s Song / Song Of Storms
Colin Stetson – Passage
The Tune Up airs on CKMS-FM every Friday from 6-7pm
Welcome to the show! This week I’m playing more of my recent favourite jazz records. This mix is saxophone-heavy again. In the second half I shift to some spiritual jazz from Ottawa by the Antlantis Jazz Ensemble, some jazz-folk from the Tara Clerkin Trio, R&B/jazz by River Tiber. To end the mix I played Private Room by RAD, which I discovered as the funky sample behind MIKE’s You’re the Only One Watching.
I have a jam packed show! Tune in this Sunday between 4 30 PM To 6 30 PM EST
We sat down with hip hop artist ILOVEMAKONNEN, discuss the Kitchener Rangers, why the Region is banning right turns at red lights at various intersections, the Toronto Maple Leafs and more!
Welcome to the first show! I’m playing some of my favourite jazz records as of late. This mix features a lot of Hard Bop, raw sounds and fast tempos. Also playing two of my favourites from Sonny Rollins to celebrate his wonderful music.
