SHOWCASE YOUR ROOTS:
Concert/show including ROCK YOUR ROOTS (a fashion show) and featuring Ontario comedian Trixx who toured opening for Kevin Hart last year, local KW artist Rufus, and the best talent the University of Waterloo has to offer. Held in Hagey Hall, tickets are available in the box office (open from noon to 5 PM) for $10, or you can call 519-888-4908. Show begins at 7 PM.

LOVE LOCKDOWN
Official after-party for SHOWCASE YOUR ROOTS in Federation Hall on the University of Waterloo campus. This is an all ages event featuring a 19+ section. DJ Smartiez hailing from Windsor and DJ JC of the Guvernment in Toronto will be spinning all night long. Doors open at 10 PM and tickets cost $10, unless a gold package is bought from the Hagey Hall box office (which gives you tickets to both SHOWCASE and LOCKDOWN for $15).

Welcome To The Local Live Arts Scene Duncan!
With over twenty years of film industry experience, Duncan Finnigan has worked as a producer, director and film maker across a wide variety of television programming in Scotland, London, Europe and Canada.

As a filmmaker, he has mastered all aspects of the film making process, as an editor, director, actor, sound recordist and director of photography. His feature films have premiered at international festivals, notably Four Eyes and My Life as a Bus Stop, which both debuted at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

As a graduate with an MA in Screenwriting from the Screen Academy, Napier University, and having worked as a lecturer at Caledonian University, Glasgow, Duncan uses his industry experience to train students for a career in television broadcasting.

After immigrating from Scotland, Duncan is now the producer at The Multicultural Cinema Club.
Duncan talks about Cafe Flicker which is happening this week at The Queen Street Commons on Feb 2, and also An Open House which is happening on Sunday Feb 3 in addition to another event Duncan has created called A Month of Sundays!
With his experience, passion and canny insight into the film world, Duncan’s a great asset to the local arts scene. And on Feb 17 Duncan will screen one of his own films! – Lights Camera Action! – Coral FM.

We’re finally up! It’s not our first episode, but it’s the first one you can download! This week we talked about the label Underground Operations, played some music we think is awesome and played a clip of a beat boxing goat. Also I (Kurtis) got some facts wrong. Cough. ahem. Can you find them?

By the way – Jose Miguel Contreras of By Divine Right (the band is playing The Starlight Social Club on Feb 13!) is also Lily’s husband. They worked together to complete 2004 album Situation, co-wrote and produced Cine-Magique (2006), Flights of Fancy (2007), Lily Swings (2008) and Viridian Torch (2010). In recent years, Lily has won West Coast Vocalist of the Year (2002, New Music West), a SOCAN award for Situation (2006, NXNE) and also a Gemini Award nominee for co-writing the theme song and score for the CBC hit television show, Being Erica. So if you are in Toronto, check her out her show tonight at The Painted Lady. Maybe one day she will play here in town! How Divoon! Coral FM.
