You’ve done it all You’ve broken every code And pulled the rebel to the floor You spoiled the game No matter what you say For only metal, what a bore

Here I stand in a daze, axe in my hand Another fool on the stage with a traveling band There’s a space in my heart … permanent flame Just give me your body and I’ll give you my brain It’s a fair exchange

Seen the troubles and the evils of this world
I’ve seen the stretches between godliness and sin
I’ve had the promise and confessions of true faith
And the hypocrisy that always lies within
And they left it for you
All of this for you

Last night your shadow fell upon my lonely room I touched your golden hair and tasted your perfume Your eyes were filled with love the way they used to be Your gentle hand reached out to comfort me Then came the dawn And you were gone I had too much to dream last night

Last week I came across this terrific documentary on YouTube called Before 1976 Revisited: How Punk Became Punk and was inspired to search out some of the music that led to the punk and alternative movement. Hope you’ll enjoy!

When my feet go through the door I know what my right arm is for Buy a drink and pull a chair Up to the edge of the dance floor Bouncers bouncing through the night Trying to stop or start a fight I sit and watch the flashing lights Moving legs in footless tights

You’ve done too much, Much too young Now you’re married with a kid When you could be having fun with me

Stop everythingI think I hear the PresidentThe Pied Piper of the TV screenIs gonna make it simpleAnd he’s got it all mapped outAnd illustrated with cartoonsToo hard for clever folks to understandThey’re more used to words like:IdeologyThey’re not talkin’ ’bout right and leftThey’re talkin’ ’boutRight and wrong, do you know the difference?Right and wrong, do you know the difference?‘Tween the right and the left and the east and the westWhat you know and the things that you’ll never see?

… to bring you the constant variety of retro-alternative music!

Saturday night in the City of the DeadCan you feel the time bomb ticking in your head?Too many memories are waiting in your bedSaturday night in the City of the Dead!

Some tasty treats for your ears!

Let me tell you about Sweden
Only country where the clouds are interesting
Big brother says it’s the place to go
Too much time to think, too little to do

These are my demons, ones that I’ve grown
These are my demons, from seeds that I’ve sown
These are my demons, leave them alone
These are my demons, go get your own!

My mother gave me an intercontinental
Ballistic missile with a nuclear warhead
With USA on the side of it and
Coca-Cola in brackets …
… For Christmas!

To all wavebands on Earth Reconnoiter on the kilohertz This tune is going out to Marconi To all corners of the globe There ain’t no hut in the Serengeti Where my wavelengths do not probe And if a rocket went to Saturn We sure hope a D.J. is on board

There’s razors in my bed, That come out late at night. They always disappear, Before the morning light!

If only I’d thought of the right wordsI could have held on to your heartIf only I’d thought of the right wordsI wouldn’t be breaking apart all my pictures of you

Feeling attack put up defenses
Nothing you’ve ever said made much sense
Words are just another violence
Nothing rings as true as silence

Since re-starting this show after a 37-year hiatus some 18 months ago, I’ve discovered or re-discovered a lot of songs that have become the new soundtrack of my life. This show includes sixteen of them. Hope you enjoy!

I watch you on the TV every single day Those eyes make everything okay

I want to go to cool places with you I want to take you to cool places tonight I want to go where nobody’s a fool And no one says uh, “Hey girl, need a light?”

I can’t tell you We can’t tell you They can’t tell you Why

You can’t help being hard up
Can’t trust the gods we trusted
Don’t think that’s any insurance
Could I be happy with something else?
I need something to fill my time
