Headlining the FREE Dave FM Rocks KOI Fest concert on Friday, September 19 is none other than Danko Jones! The Toronto rock band will be accompanied by up and coming local groups to offer a sample of KOI Music Fest. This free event takes over Crabby Joe’s parking lot in Downtown Kitchener.

Ticketed concerts on Saturday September 20 and Sunday September 21 will feature big names, including Chiodos, Miss May I, Four Year Strong, The World is a Beautiful Place…, The Front Bottoms, and

The Mad Caddies. Foxy Shazam, and Handguns will join returning Canadian favourites Protest the Hero, Silverstein, Counterparts, and Kitchener’s own Courage My Love on the stage over the course of the weekend. There are still close to 100 bands to be announced throughout the summer including Saturday and Sunday’s main headliners.

KOI Music Festival has grown this year to include a full day of performances on Sunday, September 21. The morning kicks off with two brunch shows featuring Saturday headliners performing stripped down acoustic shows, and then leads into another full day of music on the main stage in the Crabby Joe’s parking lot.

More bands will be announced throughout the summer, and artist applications are still being accepted to play the festival. According to festival director Cory Crossman, “KOI Fest 14 will hands down be the best KOI Fest to date. With our strongest line up, loads of new components including a music conference, mini food truck festival, huge charity drive and KOI Fest comic book, we’re expecting to draw our largest audience to date!”

A major focus for KOI Music Festival is supporting independent artists from the Waterloo Region. “Continuing to grow our live music scene in Waterloo Region is top priority. With the support of our sponsors, The City of Kitchener and the Downtown Kitchener BIA we are thrilled to continue to bring the best in independent music to Kitchener’s core,” says Crossman.

KOI Music Festival has filled downtown Kitchener with music and entertainment each September for the last 4 years. Tickets for this year’s festival go on sale today.
