CKMS Community Connections for 8 March 2021 – International Women’s Day

Show Notes

It’s International Women’s Day, so today we’re celebrating by featuring music by the women of Waterloo Region. Sadly, there’s only an hour of CCC so we couldn’t possibly squeeze in all the wonderful musicians in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and the townships. If you’ve got some music you’d like aired on Radio Waterloo then send an e-mail at office@radiowaterloo.ca and we’ll be happy to add it to our Digital Music Library. Full information is at How To Submit Music.

On Sunday, 15 November 2020 the Kitchener Festival of Neighbourhoods held its Mosaic of Neighbourhoods online meeting. Allison Brown, the Celebration Planner/Multi-Media Specialist with FON sends us a report featuring highlights from the meeting. It’s in two parts, the first features the Neighbourhood Exchange program and the second part is the feedback from the discussions. Allison writes “Bear in mind that this audio all comes from Zoom, so it’s not the best.” You can read all about it on their website: Festival Of Neighbourhoods 2020: A Mosaic Of Neighbourhoods.

We previously reported on the Festival of Neighbourhoods on CKMS Community Connections for 26 October 2020.

The Festival of Neighbourhood report starts at 5m09s.

Festival of Neighbourhoods, 15 November 2020

A Mosaic of Neighbourhoods

Online Celebration

Sunday, 15 November 2020 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

www.festivalofneighbourhoods.ca

Festival of Neighbourhoods Kitchener invites YOU to participate in an interactive online celebration recognizing all the amazing ways you and your neighbours created community connections this year. Our theme is A Mosaic of Neighbourhoods, and we’ll be highlighting the neighbourhoods and people that make Kitchener the strong and diverse community we cherish.

Zoom along with your neighbours and City of Kitchener representatives to share your ideas for the future of your neighbourhoods, take video tours around the city and participate in a fun creative activity.

By joining the party on the Zoom meeting platform, you’ll have the opportunity to represent your neighbourhood and win one of five $100.00 ‘Door Prize’ Gift Cards from local businesses towards your neighbourhood projects.

Sign up to attend at Eventbrite

You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom meeting link to access the celebration.

On the reservation order form, you can volunteer to be a Breakout Session host; lead a small online discussion group and spark imagination as they envision the future of your neighbourhood.

The deadline to confirm is Thursday, November 12th at midnight. Sign up today!

If you wish to participate offline, or don’t have access to a home computer, a City of Kitchener Community Centre space is available for you to join in. Email allison.brown@waterlooregion.org or call 519‑567‑7407 for more information.
