Kitchener Electronic Music Open Mic

This is the first of it’s kind in the KW area. It is starting up after the recent success of The Modulation Club events that were held at the KPL library which featured techniques on synthesis exploration.

Now it is time to check out the music of the region!

Sign up to perform or just show up and see what cool  electronics people in the KW region are making music with.

The Tri City Synthesizer Society

The Robot might even make an appearance at a future open mic!

AWH Take-over #10 One Year in Modular & Final Free Coffee

In this episode of the podcast I feature all the past episode feature artists and a bit of the modular journey that I have experienced since the last episode. If your on your journey, I hope you have a good one and can learn from some of my mistakes.

FREE Coffee #4:

The Free coffee can be found at this location. This video was just released today!

The Coffee is located on a bench at this location. If you are unfamiliar with the location this next video has the Google Maps location:

Note: The park might be hard to find but the free coffee is not if you check around the benches. If it is not there it might be gone. Thanks for playing and maybe I will do it again next summer.

AWH Take-over 9 Featuring Wax Mannequin & FREE COFFEE #3

In this episode of my radio take-over podcast I talk about how maybe the word “addiction” dealing with modular synth is not such a bad thing. modular synthesis is so cross-curricular it contains math, music, science, technology, etc. Maybe getting addicted to modular synth is something more people need.

The featured solo artist is one of my favourite non-eurorack artists Wax Mannequin. Check out their bandcamp page and support their music here: https://waxmannequin.bandcamp.com/

FREE COFFEE #3

Here are the clues for you to find your FREE COFFEE it is at this location:

Right at the beginning of the video is a description of where this fantastic location is. I noticed one day as I was driving past this place that a running group sometimes uses the trail for some cross-country running.  If you have no idea where this might be, the first comment in this next video will help you to find the location using google:

Note: The Coffee Chip will be placed right “over the hill where the second trail splits” so, if you have found the location and have looked around and cant find it it could mean someone has already found it. There will be another coffee hidden with the final podcast post next weekend.

Good Luck!

AWH EP 8 Featuring Donovan Stringer & FREE COFFEE #2

First the podcast. In this episode of my radio take-over podcast I talk about the “Dark Side” of Eurorack. How can you get your hands on cheap modules? And if so, at what cost? During my second hand gear dealing I came across this episodes feature artist….

The featured solo artist is SICKLE aka Donovan Stringer. Check out their soundcloud page and support their music here: https://soundcloud.com/vaesolis

FREE COFFEE #2

Here are the clues for you to find your FREE COFFEE it is at this location:

This isn’t an official location and parking isn’t the greatest. You might need to park at a nearby location and walk a bit to get to this fantastic look-out. Even if your not going for the free coffee this is a great spot to look out over the City of Waterloo. The video doesn’t do justice to how great this spot really is.

If you have no idea where this might be, the first comment in this next video will help you to find the location:

Note: There is a little bit of searching necessary so that not just any muggle walking by could find it, however if you have found the location and have looked around it could mean someone has already found it. There will be another coffee hidden with the next podcast post next weekend.

Good Luck!

AWH Takeover 7 featuring Jason Sharp & FREE COFFEE!

First the podcast, where I chat about what you can expect at the KPL Modular meet-ups that were happening monthly throughout the winter and about how once you get into modular you start to notice it everywhere like with this feature artist that I went to see.

The featured solo artist is Jason Sharp Check out their Bandcamp page and support their music here: https://jasonsharp.bandcamp.com/album…

FREE COFFEE #1

Here are the clues for you to find your FREE COFFEE it is at this location. One of the first stops of the Robot’s summer tour was here:

CKMS is one of the 9 wonders of the KW Region! If you are unfamiliar with the area and the station a comment in the next video (another Robot performance) will give you a Google Maps Plus code to get you to the right area.

Note: The Robot Apocalypse chip and coffee card is not in the CKMS station. You do not need to try and get in. It will be accessible to the public. If it is not easily found it probably means someone has already found it. There will be another coffee hidden next weekend.

Good Luck!

AWH Takeover 6 Featuring Heidi Chan aka Bachelard

In this episode of my radio take-over podcast I talk about a few great Facebook groups your should join if you are interested in Modular Synths. I talk about a discussion I had about the Mutable Instruments Rings into Beads and I have my kids and nephew create a patch at my daughters birthday party.

The featured solo artist is Heidi Chan aka Bachelard

AWH Radio Take-over #3 Featuring Andrew Ostler

I think that with this radio podcast I used the same photo as with radio take-over #2. I’m going to have to come up with a better method of documenting my patches. I can tell from listening though that Plaits is the main focus of this patch again and I’m playing with the harmony manually to give it that choppy glitched out sound. I believe at this point I dont have my Moog Mavis hooked up and the bassy parts are created by the Cre8audio Chips. There is a lot of gear talk in this episode. I have become fully addicted and I want to get some cool name brand modules….like the Disting MK4, but someone is selling the MK1 used so I will start there.

The featured solo artist is Andrew Ostler.
