2023 Annual General Meeting for Radio Waterloo: 1pm Sat 26 Aug 2023 at Country Hills Library

The 2023 Annual General Meeting for Radio Waterloo will be held on Saturday, 26 August 2023:

When: 1:00pm to 2:00pm, Saturday 26 August 2023
Where: CH Meeting Room, Country Hills branch, Kitchener Public Library
Location: 1500 Block Line Road, Kitchener Map

For those who can’t attend in person and can’t use Google Meet, a phone number for dialling in to the online meeting will be provided closer to the AGM date.

A complete package with information for the Annual General Meeting is available to members on request. It will contain the meeting agenda, last year’s AGM minutes, financial statements, current and proposed by-laws, and a proxy form for members who can’t attend the meeting. Printouts will not be provided at the AGM, please bring your own printouts or a device to display the PDF file (approximately 50 pages, 1.0 MBytes).

Election to the Board of Directors is open to members. Nominations are being accepted until 11:59pm on Wednesday 23 August 2023. Members can contact the Board for the nomination form.

This is a public meeting, everyone is invited to attend. Only members in good standing can vote on motions, or for the election of members to the Board of Directors.

This is the official notification of the Radio Waterloo Annual General Meeting, to be held in 10 days. This is a hybrid meeting, both in-person and online, and open to the public.

    • Pass a motion to waive the review engagement.
      • A review engagement is a type of engagement that provides a limited level of assurance that a company’s financial statements comply with the applicable financial reporting framework. It gives users limited assurance on the accuracy or correctness of financial statements.
  6. Election of Board.
  7. Members’ Forum.
  8. Adjournment.

…followed by a brief Special Board Meeting for the newly elected Board members to set the date for the next regular Board meeting.

Everyone is invited to attend this meeting. Only members in good standing can vote on motions, or for the election of members to the Board of Directors. Members in good standing are those who have paid their annual membership ($25) for the 2020-2021 year, and programmers with lapsed memberships who currently have a payment plan in place. You can become a member, or renew a lapsed membership at https://radiowaterloo.ca/join and pay by credit card.

Voting on motions at the AGM will be by show of hands on video, typing “Yea” or “Nay” in the meeting chat, or saying your name and “Yea” or “Nay” for phone participants.

Procedures for electing members to the Board of Directors have changed from last year. For this AGM voting will be open to all members, including those not attending the AGM. You will receive your ballot by e-mail before 9:00am on Saturday, 14 August 2021, and the voting period is from 9:00am to 2:15pm, when the results will be announced at the AGM. Seven of the total eleven Board positions are open, two for a one-year term, and five for a two-year term. Board member roles will be determined at the first Board meeting in September.

Because of the extended voting period, nomination for candidates for the Board of Directors will close at 8:00pm on Friday, 13 August 2021. The Board of Directors is actively seeking new directors. Members in good standing can submit their own name as a candidate. To nominate another member as a candidate please contact that member to ensure they accept the nomination. Nominations and acceptances should be sent to board@radiowaterloo.ca Serving on the Radio Waterloo Board of Directors is a great way to get involved in Community Radio and learn more about the operation of the radio station!

Rob McKenna is the returning officer for this election, and will run the voting software, maintain the list of candidates, send ballots to the membership list, and announce the results at the AGM.

Members of Radio Waterloo should have received the AGM package with additional information such as the Agenda, financial statements, previous AGM minutes, and the Radio Waterloo bylaws.

There will be a brief meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors after the AGM in order to set a date for the next full Board meeting, at which the Executive positions will be decided and Committee chairs selected.

If you’re a listener, meet your favourite on-air personalities; if you’re a programmer, meet your biggest fans!

AGM & August Fees

Hi CKMS membership!

I apologise if you get this message more than once, I added a few email groups to this email.

The Board of Directors of CKMS – Radio Waterloo would like to invite you all to the AGM (Annual General Meeting). This is the BIG meeting held once per year.
When: Saturday August 5th 2017
Where: WPL – Waterloo Public Library
Time: 2:30 – 5:00
Who: all members of CKMS
For programmers it is important to get your show fees paid so that you can vote. There are many board positions available so if you think you want to learn more about Community Radio please put your name in. It is also important for you to be in "good standing" to be eligible for the board of directors.
We have some exciting announcements this year and we hope you cam make it!

Receipts & Show Fees

Hi programmers,
I just put a whole bunch of show receipts beside the drop box. Sorry that they are just in a pile! There should be all the receipts until mid June. If your receipt is missing and you need it let me know and I can send you a photo of the receipt. There are a few that aren't there yet because I had to go buy a new receipt book.
Show Fees!!
I have contacted all shows are owe show fees! Please get caught up! The Free Airtime slots are for shows who do not need to be contacted about fees….That is the incentive for the free airtime slot! In addition policy for owing more than two months of show fees is to have your spot changed to a green slot on the schedule meaning that it is available to be bumped. Try to get these show fees in ASAP. We will be discussing and changing shows towards the end of this month!
BECAUSE….it is about AGM time! It is important to have your show fees in order so that you can vote to change things with the station and to be eligible in case you want to join the board of directors!
This year we have a lot of spots on the Board of Directors opening! If you wanna help out to get this station going please think about running for a board position! If you have questions about what it entails then please send me an email!
Lastly keep up the great programming…I haven't had a chance to listen too much in July but in June I had it on in my house constantly and it was one awesome show after another. I think that the Golden MP3 awards will be difficult this year!
