“One Act – Rage Against Violence” –

One Act - Rage Against Violence.
One Act – Rage Against Violence.

This is probably one of the most important podcasts I have ever done.

November is Woman Abuse Awareness Month and on Monday Nov 30,  playwrights Dwight Storring and Gary Kirkham in conjunction with Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region present  “One Act – Rage Against Violence” in a theatrical performance featuring local leaders and artists.

Here is my conversation with Dwight and Gary and their process behind putting this collection of real life stories of abuse together for what will be a very powerful night.

To the women that have survived abuse, I salute your courage. To the men who support them and realize how serious this issue is, thank you. This will be a life-changing night. For someone in the audience who may have been silenced because of abuse,  after seeing this performance, may it give you the bravery to finally speak out.  – Coral

One Act, Rage Against Violence takes to the stage at Dunfield Theatre Cambridge on Monday, Nov. 30 at 6:15 p.m. Tickets cost $35. Call 1-855-372-9866 to buy tickets or purchase tickets online at Dunfield Theatre.  For those who would to volunteer or help or donate to WCSWR please visit http://www.wcswr.org/

Gilt Restaurant Review!

wpid-20150520_201935.jpgWe heard that Gilt Restaurant had our favourite Lake of Bays Brewing Company beverages and so we had to check out this restaurant to see how it was.
wpid-20150520_184001.jpgTo Start things off the Lady fox has some food allergies and this restaurant was very accommodating! The server even went over with her which items she should choose from and worked out a personal mean just for her. Not only that, most “Special Orders” in other restaurants are just thrown together in an attempt to get something out. This looked and tasted amazing!

The Rest of us decided upon 6 tapas to share.wpid-20150520_183901.jpg
The first was some amazing chicken that was like nothing I have ever tastes before. It can be seen in the skillet in the image here. Those pieced of heaven in front of the skillet at the puff potatoes…WOW, they were AMAZING! Let move along to the next course..

wpid-20150520_185150.jpgThis was my (DJ Steel’s) favourite dish of the evening. The Lobster Rolls. A close second was the puff potatoes seen above. These lobster rolls were loaded with lobster!

The Next Selection here was DJ AdRock’s favourite dish of the evening the pork belly perogies!wpid-20150520_185536.jpg On the menu is a Lake of Bays Brewing Company IPA beer. We confirmed with the server this is the 10 point ale. This was a perfect complementary drink for these dishes, as seen in the photo’s they didn’t last too long.

wpid-20150520_191755.jpgDJ AdRock then went with a Lake of Bays Brewing Company Crosswind pale ale and I got another 10 point.

The next part of the meal was the scallops! Perfectly cooked!  What a way to finish off the dinner part….but we were not done there! We had to stick around for some dessert!

Gilt Restaurant did not disappoint! Everything was so good! In addition to the restaurant being so good we hear that a few days after we were there they had an outdoor concert on their patio!wpid-20150520_194404.jpg

We definitely give Gilt Restaurant two thumbs up! Check them out online here:

Tempus Fugitives is the latest release from The Peter Ulrich Collaboration. The world premiere of Tempus Fugitives is being presented Saturday June 20 in New York in The Marlin Room at Webster Hall.

The Peter Ulrich Collaboration – he has worked closely with City Canyons CEO Trebor Lloyd and a wide ranging group of artists including Sara Wendt, David Steele, Jen Elliott, Kingsley Sage of Anemo and Saskia Dommisse of Poets to their Beloved.
Tempus Fugitives is the second part of the trilogy, as the Collaboration continues to evolve featuring a collective of New York’s finest performing musicians and actors, with Ulrich as the ‘linchpin” for this sophomore release.
Singer/ harpist Erin Hill is featured on album single / music video “Dark Daddy.” The album also includes also includes Shane Chapman, (“Don Juan’s Lament”), Samara Dunn, Timothy Dark, (“Mr Johnson”),  David Steele (“King of Fools”), Sunny Brooke Moriber, with Alain Rozan (“En Bleu’), Danny Cosgrove, and Dosia McKay (“Big Iron Gun”), Evi Steriou of Daemonia Nymphe (“Icarus”) I.V Webb, (“Beloved Suicide”), John Penwarden (‘Migrators” and “Zanzibar” featuring Timothy Dark, and Stephanie Linn. The first fruit of this collaboration is an album The Painted Caravan released on Market Square Records in March 2013 which has attracted positive reviews in national UK publications as diverse as Rock’n’Reel magazine and the Financial Times, as well as receiving radio airplay from Tom Robinson and Frank Skinner.
Ulrich continues to be heavily influenced by folk, world and early musics, and draws many elements of these into his distinctive style of songwriting and arranging. And this album which takes the listener on a fascinating journey through time in sound and story is no exception.

Peter Ulrich comes to New York to join the Collaboration for the world stage premiere of Tempus Fugitives to be performed on Saturday June 20 in The Marlin Room at Webster Hall NYC. The show also features Erin Hill and Euro-American folk punk cabaret duo Frenchy and The Punk.
