This Thursday, June 6th marks the kick off to the 5th annual Ever After Music Festival in Kitchener, Ontario! And the first year a pre-party is added to the festival extending it to 4 days total.
This year the festival features some of the best in bass music and headliners from all around the world. Specifically the pre-party featuring sets from local talent and international DJ’s such as Zia, Moody Good and headliner Yellow Claw, an elite world wide known DJ teamed with a production recording duo originating out of Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2010!
Since 2010, this trio (downsized to a duo in 2016) has put out multiple hit singles, multiple hit albums, many that have hit #1 charts and has rocked some of the biggest main stages of music festivals around the world such as Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Tomorrowland in Boom, Belgium, Electronic Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Coachella in California and New Year’s in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Needless to say we are thrilled to have them come to Kitchener, Ontario’s Ever After Festival this coming week; and you should be too!!
And YES I am excited to get confirmation to get a quick word in and interview with the the men of Yellow Claw themselves, Jim and Nils, before they take the stage at Bingeman’s!

The Inaugural Kitchener Waterloo Choose Your Own Festival will take place Saturday April 20th , Uptown Waterloo from 2:00pm – 12:00am. Spanning four venues within seconds of each other, the festival is sure to be a unique experience. A delight to veteran concert goers, and newcomers alike.
Patent Social, Chainsaw, Night School, and Harmony Lunch will host the first ever Choose Your Own Festival. Boasting over 50 musical acts from the KW region and Ontario abroad, The festival serves in conjunction with the local seasonal Punk Rock Flea Market typically hosted by KWCDIY, which will take place at Chainsaw from 2:00pm – 6:00pm featuring over 20 vendors and local entrepreneurs. Please note The festival is all ages, excluding Chainsaw past 8:30pm.
The festival is the brainchild of former ne’er-do-well, and current local musician Chris Walton. Developed as a way to get all his local (and abroad) musician buddies together for a one day gig, Chris hired Kyle Wappler to help co-host the festival as a means to give back to the local music community within the tri-cities, showcasing all the best independent bands in Ontario. Chris and Kyle have been involved with the local KW music scene for over a decade now. On the surface, both seem to share very different musical tastes and outlooks from one another, but at the heart of it all they both share the same proverbial DIY ethos. Kyle is no stranger to festivals, he and Chris both had roles in the success of the now defunct local KOI music fest, and is currently working on his second annual Hopefest to take place later this September. Needless to say, music in the region is at a surplus. The times are exciting to be a music fan of any genre in Kitchener Waterloo, and even Cambridge too!
“This festival is to serve the local arts community at large. To nurture and maintain a music scene for everyone at all walks of life to enjoy, is the end goal. Kitchener Waterloo’s arts community will never stagnate, if every facet from the region works together. KW’s Choose Your Own Fest stands with these inclusive values”
Advance tickets for the festival are availble at www.ticketscene.ca, Orange Monkey, Digital Print Integrity Inc., and local musical acts.

CKMS celebrates over 40 years on air with funding drive
Kitchener, March 1st 2018 – CKMS recently attained a significant milestone in Canadian community radio history: 40 years on the FM airwaves. As part of the 40th anniversary celebrations, CKMS 102.7FM (Radio Waterloo) is pleased to announce the Friends Of CKMS Funding Drive (March 10-24th 2018
Starting on March 10th 2018, the fundraiser aims to raise $2500 to support the ongoing operations of the non-profit, volunteer-run, community radio station.
The fundraiser, involving on-air requests from the various shows and programmers, will culminate in an exclusive Friends of CKMS Appreciation Event on March 24th 2018.
The Appreciation Event is held at Descendants Brewery in Kitchener, with live performances from local musicians: The Jenny Howes Duo, Crimson Breed & The Faulty Rivals.
Access to the event will be offered to donors first. Many local businesses have generously contributed prizes for the event to support the fundraising and help make the event a wonderful climax to the 2 week funding drive.
Radio Waterloo evolved from the Broadcasting Club / Broadcasting Association at the University of Waterloo which was operating in the early to mid 1960’s. CRTC-licensed since 1977, CKMS recently celebrated 40 years on the FM airwaves.
Today the station is also streamed on Rogers Cable (946) and worldwide thru radiowaterloo.ca and the TuneIn app in addition to 102.7 FM.
The radio station is entirely run by volunteers and does not receive any ongoing funding from government or universities.
The majority of our operations are funded by programming fees paid by the on-air hosts and donations from the community.
The station provides a unique service to the KW region by being a voice for the different cultural communities and alternate content not available on commercial radio.
