“We see housing as underpinning the entire health of a community”- Catherine Fife
In mid-August, the CKMS newsroom caught up with Kitchener-Waterloo NDP MPP Catherine Fife to critically discuss new legislation passed in the Ontario legislature — the Promoting Affordable Housing Act. The discussion deals with implementing the act in Waterloo Region with funding and zoning options available to municipal governments including promotion of inclusionary zoning, and ending appeals to the OMB, as well as some of weaknesses in the legislations around gentrification and renters rights.
This Interview was originally aired on August 19th on CKMS Community News, a program of the CKMS newsroom at 100.3fm, SoundFM.ca in Waterloo Region. It was undertaken by Rachel Avery.

On this past episode of The Underground Sound Project‘s professional wrestling podcast “Through The Ropes”, we had the new PWA Ontario Champ Reggie Marley come by the studio.
It was such a thrill to be able to have the new PWA Ontario Champion Reggie Marley come to the new CKMS studio in the Old Boehmer Box Building on Breithaupt and Duke!
Being the #1 best wrestling podcast in the region, it was a perfect time and place to have the new PWA Ontario champ, “The Big Ticket” Reggie Marley , come in and talk about his upbringing and how he got into professional wrestling, and his involvement with PWA Canada‘s new professional wrestling promotion PWA Trinidad & Tobego.
Be sure to check out their next event in Kitchener September 17th at The Alpine Club. There will be special all ladies card before the usual event at 7:30. Be sure to check out their website http://www.canadianprowrestling.com/ for more updates.
Big thanks to Reggie Marley and PWA for sending their new champ out to the studio. Hope to see you there September 17th!

Interview with Kevin McShan on July 12 speaking about partnerships he has developed and the work he has accomplished. He is a former student of the Journalism program at St. Clair College.
Today we are recognizing Michael Hendricks who saved a 9 month old baby and Melissa Bell’s quote on how we can be kind to one another.
She told 100.3 Sound FM CKMS Radio Waterloo, “When I yelled for help and for someone to call 911, the other patrons simply sat and stared at me like I was crazy, and no one reached for their phones. We are so suspicious of every one out there that is a stranger. I think we could mend those bridges by simply saying ‘hello’ to ppl you pass on the street. We’re so wrapped up in out own lives and stresses that someone’s accidentally bumping into you is a personal insult and so often the reaction is anger. Let’s reconnect to those around us by being polite and saying, ‘hi’!”
I also shared some kindness stories brought to you by goodnewsnetwork.org along with the interview of Karli Walters and Michael Hendricks courtesy of Global News. You can also read the other article on 570 News where Michael Hendricks and Karli Walters were also interviewed as well since Michael Hendricks saved the life of a 9 month old baby.
Furthermore, I have also posted the interview of Jane Elliott as well and I played that on my show as well.
Enjoy the show and enjoy your week as well as your weekend! :).
