Bob Jonkman and his hot pink mic sock!
It’s the first day back in the studio after the Covid shutdown, and show hosts are required to take precautions: The station has provided hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and mic socks!

Two great interviews today, but unfortunately we didn’t get to all the new music submitted this week. It’s in our library, though, so stay tuned to CKMS-FM 102.7 and you’ll hear it in our other programs!

CKMS Community Connections for 8 June 2020

Here’s hoping this is the last week the Radio Waterloo studios are closed! Programmers and show hosts should be back in the studio soon, and hopefully we’ll be able to have guests later this summer. So here’s another show of old & new Canadian Content music, with a distinct Canadiana Country flavour.

CKMS Community Connections for 1 June 2020

Another week, another hour of Canadian Content music. We would have had Woody Woodburn as our guest for an interview and a Live, On-Air, In-Studio performance, but the studio is still closed for the Covid pandemic. Happily, Woody has released an album Woody Woodburn | Better Man Today (stylized W)Better Man Today, so we’ll be playing some of those tracks.

The studio is being prepared for re-opening — we’re equipping it with hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, and mic socks. In a couple of weeks we can have our programmers back in the studio, and we’ll open to studio guests some time after that.

In the meantime, here’s an hour of old and new CanCon for your listening pleasure!

    Chris Sherren at the microphone
    Chris Sherren
Today is Victoria Day, a statutory holiday in Canada, and a day when Chris Sherren who fronts Deaf By Design would have been available for a Live, On-Air, In-Studio performance and interview. But we’re still in the middle of the Covid pandemic, and the studio is still closed. So there’s only recorded music today, and we start off with a few tracks by Chris.

Be sure to check out Chris’s show Into The Void, which airs Fridays from 10:00pm to 11:00pm, with a replay on Sundays at 6:30pm.

And we have Canadian Content music at two extremes of the genre spectrum: Technical Death Metal, Black Metal, Progressive Death Metal, and Alternative Metal, all followed by Alternative Rock, Synth Rock, and maybe some Folk.

There have been no podcasts for the CKMS Community Connections music shows; podcasts will resume once we have guests back in the studio.
